John William Keith

John William Keith died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg. He was 93.

Born in Columbus, Mr. Keith moved to Utica in 1921. He was a 1933 graduate of Utica High School and a 1935 graduate of Hinds Junior College. He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Raymond since 1935.

He was an avid music lover, having played in two bands — The Has-Beens of Utica and the Capital City Stage Band. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aerial photographer stationed in Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Breeden Currie.

Survivors include a son, John Allan Keith and his fiance, Ann Mullins, of Vicksburg; a daughter, Charlotte Crist of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Utica Christian Church. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church from noon Saturday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Gordon Cotton, Bob Lee Currie, Danny Currie, Brenda Currie Jones, Dr. Troy Jenkins, William Mathews and Randy Crist.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Raymond or to Utica Cemetery.
