Controlled burn

Published 12:00 am Saturday, February 7, 2009

Firemen with the National Park Service monitor a controlled burn Friday at Fort Garott inside the Vicksburg National Military Park. Fires were set at four spots in the park and covered about 50 acres. The purpose is to keep the landscape historically accurate, reduce hazardous fuels and control the spread of invasive plants.
