City woman held on check charges

A Vicksburg woman was arrested for trying to cash a fake check at Wal-Mart SuperCenter, police said.
Shonita Green, 33, 1513 First North St., was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Monday after a traffic stop on Cherry and West Pine streets.
In checking her driver’s license, police found two warrants for her arrest stemming from an incident in October.
She was charged with uttering a forgery and possession of a counterfeit instrument.
She was being held on a $15,000 bond.
Residence, farm reported burglarized
One residential and one farm burglary were reported in Warren County Monday.
A residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of Impala Drive at 9:43 a.m.
Stolen was an air conditioner valued at $3,000.
A farm burglary was reported in the 11000 block of Fisher Ferry Road at 12:57 p.m.
Stolen were eight rolls of barbed wire with a total value of $800.
House vandalized on Greenbriar Drive
Doors were knocked out and holes were punched in wallboard in a house in the 300 block of Greenbriar Drive.
The report was filed by construction workers with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 1:29 p.m. Monday. It was unclear if the house was occupied.
Eight injured in wreck on Mississippi 27
A two-car wreck on Mississippi 27 near Gibson Road left eight people injured, including at least four children, a spokesman for the Vicksburg Fire Department ambulance service said this morning.
A police report on the wreck was not available from the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, which investigated.
Names of four of the eight were released by the fire department, but the others had not been recorded this morning, so they were not available.
Two of the four, Caitlin Hal, 7; and Amber Stanley, 11, both of 4116 Mississippi 27, were transferred from River Region Medical Center to University Medical Center in Jackson, said Allen Karel, a River Region spokesman. Their conditions were not available from UMC this morning.
The other two, Blanton Walls, 6, 5410 Fisher Ferry Road, and Alyssa Green, 1 month, 4280 Mississippi 27, were treated and released, Karel said.
