The main offices of Trustmark Bank in Vicksburg was robbed Friday afternoon.
At about 2:05 p.m., police responded to the scene after a man wearing a light brown hooded sweatshirt and a blue baseball cap approached a teller and showed a note demanding money, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
No weapon was displayed, Stewart said, adding the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Initial reports from witnesses to police conflicted as to the direction of travel, Stewart said.
The bank closed for business by 3 p.m. and reopened about an hour later.
It was the first bank robbery in Vicksburg this year.
Trustmark operates six branches in Vicksburg.
