EDWARDS — Services for Ethel Lee Ragan Carter will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at United M.B. Church in Edwards with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Bovina. Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carter died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 84.

A homemaker, Mrs. Carter was a native of St. Martin Parish and lived in Edwards. She was a member of United M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Carter Sr.; one daughter, Virgie Demby; two brothers, Andrew Ragan and A.B. Ragan; one sister, Eliza Ragan Jones; and her parents, Anderson and Elizabeth Williams Ragan.

Survivors include three sons, Elijah Carter Jr., Raymond Carter and James Richard Carter, all of Edwards; three daughters, Mary Thompson of Clinton, Delores Watkins of Edwards and Betty Harris of Urbana, Ill.; an adopted daughter, Geneva Ragan Wilson of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
