in guns, goods missing from house on Cherry Street

Five rifles and three shotguns were among items valued at nearly $5,000 reported stolen from a home in Vicksburg Tuesday afternoon.

The burglary was reported at 12:35 p.m. in the 2400 block of Cherry Street.

Reported missing were a Browning 7mm rifle valued at $1,065, a Remington 243 bolt action rifle valued at $200, a Remington .22 bolt action rifle valued at $550, a Savage .410 rifle valued at $100, an H & R rifle valued at $480, two Remington 12-gauge shotguns valued at $300 each, a Remington 20-gauge shotgun valued at $300, $150 in coins, $400 in rolled quarters, two diamond rings valued at $350 each and a Wii Nintendo game system valued at $300.

Two other residential burglaries, one in the city and one in the county, were reported Tuesday.

• At 8:30 p.m., a resident of the 200 block of Hills of the Valley reported a  pair of Air Jordan sneakers valued at $80 and a pair of Reebok sneakers valued at $40 were missing.

• At 4:45 p.m., a 14-foot green, aluminum boat, a home-made boat and a 9-horsepower outboard motor were reorted missing. The total value was $2,000.

City man in jail for drug court

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning for a drug court sanction.

Matthew Dill, 26, 114 Hawkins St., was arrested at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday.

He was being held without bond.

Wreck on Mission injures city woman

A two-car wreck Tuesday afternoon sent one Vicksburg woman to River Region Medical Center.

Adrienne Brown, 23, 306 Skyview Lane, was treated and released the same day of the wreck on Mission 66 at MacArthur Place, said Allen Karel, River Region spokesman.

No other information was available.
