Linda Bess Markos

Linda Bess Markos died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 61.
Born in Gallman, Miss., she had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1949. Mrs. Markos was a graduate of H.V. Cooper High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thaddeus L. Sims.
She is survived by her husband, Demos Markos of Vicksburg; one daughter, Melina Markos-Perkowski of Davie, Fla.; two sons, Demos Markos Jr. and his wife, Angie, of Bellingham, Wash., and Thaddeus “Thad” Markos of Vicksburg; six granddaughters, Melia Fields, Merina Johnson, Zoe Turk, Zia Turk, Zala Turk and Ailia Perkowski; her mother, Mary Helen Sanders Sims of Vicksburg; and her brother, Andy Sims and his wife, Brenda, of Gallman.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Riles Funeral Home. The family requests guests dress informally.
Honorary pallbearers will be her friends of the H.V. Cooper High School Class of 1965, Virginia Steen Miller, Susan Palmer Hampton, Lana Toney Hand, Kathleen Boa Allen, Gwen Campbell Edris, Emily Bonelli, Sherry Nosser Cannada, Pam Jabour Mayfield, Gloria Abraham Dornbusch, Lynn Hilderbrand Baker, Fran Drake, Tricia Prewitt Redditt, Billy Jean Herrod and Liz McMullen Antoine.
