Vicksburg High’s boys basketball team defeated Noxubee County 72-56 on Thursday in a Class 4A playoff elimination game at Callaway High School in Jackson. Kelsey Howard scored 19 points to lead the Gators into today’s tournament semifinal against top-seeded Callaway at 6 p.m.

With a win tonight, the Gators are guaranteed a spot in the state tournament in Jackson. If VHS falls, it will have to beat the loser of the New Hope-Ridgeland game on Saturday to advance to the Mississippi Coliseum.

In area boys basketball playoff action, Wayne County defeated Port Gibson 67-55 to eliminate the Blue Waves in Class 4A action.

In Class 3A, South Delta advanced to today’s semifinals with a 91-78 win over Belmont.

In Class 2A, Hinds AHS advanced to today’s semifinals with a 54-41 victory over Scott Central.
