Woman says she was robbed on Clay

A woman waiting for a grocery store to open told police a scar-faced man grabbed her purse with $200 inside.

The woman said she was standing outside County Market at 2101 Clay St. just before 6 Monday morning when the man, also described as a black male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 170 pounds, took the purse, which also contained personal items, and ran on Hayes Street, said Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg police.

No other details of the theft or the thief were available.

Chain saw, AC missing from homes

Two residential burglaries were reported in the city Monday, Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

The garage storage area of a home in the 500 block of Longview Street was reported burglarized at 7:45 a.m. Stolen were a Stihl chain saw valued at $350 and a Stihl leaf blower valued at $300.

At 11:43 a.m. an outside air conditioning unit valued at $2,000 was reported stolen from a home in the 800 block of Fort Hill Drive.

City woman charged with stealing $700

A Vicksburg woman was arrested by Vicksburg police Saturday and charged with grand larceny.

Ellen Davis, 18, 2709 Drummond St., is accused of stealing $700, said police Sgt. Sandra Williams. No further details about the charges were available.

Davis was released Monday night from Warren County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Guns reported missing on West Drive

A handgun was reported stolen Monday at 5:43 p.m. from a home in the 200 block of West Drive, Warren County Jail records said today.

The .357-magnum, of unknown brand, was valued at $350.

Also Monday, a door was kicked in at a home in the 4300 block of Mount Alban Road. Nothing was reported stolen, but the damaged door was valued at $250.

Wreck on S. Frontage injures city woman

A two-car wreck on South Frontage Road Monday at 6:53 p.m. sent a Vicksburg woman to the hospital, Vicksburg Fire Department records said today.

Nanette Miller, 47, 1618 Chambers St., was treated and released from River Region Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.

No further details about the wreck were available.
