Traffic jam

A 365,000-pound Entergy generator being hauled on a trailer blocks traffic Friday afternoon at Halls Ferry and North Frontage roads. It is one of four that will be moved during the next week, said Vicksburg police Sgt. Jackie Johnson. The load backed up motorists for several hours and was, due to mechanical problems with the trailer, parked at the former Chevron on North Frontage. Crews, at right, worked on the trailer Friday night, and Johnson said the plan is to repair the trailer and get it moving by 6:30 this morning. If not, a second attempt will be made Monday morning. The generator began its journey at the Baxter Wilson plant off U.S. 61 South and was headed for Levee Street, by way of the frontage road, interstate, U.S. 61 North and North Washington Street.
