Michael Austin Williams died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. He was 49.

Mr. Williams was a former member of Spring Hill M.B. Church and was formerly employed by Cooper Lighting. He was educated in the Vicksburg Warren School District and attended Hinds Community College.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Williams Sr.; two brothers, Dwight Williams and Thomas Williams Jr.; a sister, Connie Evelyn Williams; and his grandparents, Rufus and Mariah Erves Hughes, Sam Charleston and Nappie Williams.

Survivors include his mother, Susie H. Williams of Vicksburg; a brother, Joe Samuel Williams of Vicksburg; four sisters, Gwendolyn Willliams Strong and Linda Williams Sims of Vicksburg, Pamela Williams Ned of St. Louis and Doris Jones Jones of Austin, Texas; nephews, nieces, cousins and others including the Erves, Hughes and Smith families and Minnie Morgan of Vicksburg.
