The new season of home tours in Vicksburg is unlike any presented before. “Living history” presentations, including jewelry making, the art of stained glass and Civil War surgical procedures, will be made at each home for four weeks in March and April. Tickets are $10 per home tour and presentation, and can be purchased in groups of two or four at the Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum, 1107 Washington St., beginning Friday. Free entertainment will be provided each Friday and Saturday evening.

Friday, March 13, 20, 27 and April 3:

* The Martha Vick House, 1300 Grove St. — Get a look at the owners’ rarely seen collection of 18th and 19th century fine china, silver and antiques, as well as a collection of late French impressionist paintings. 9:30 a.m.

* The Church of the Holy Trinity, 900 South St. — A Lenten Fine Arts Series will take place at 12:05 p.m., followed by a seafood gumbo lunch ($8). Tours of the sanctuary begin at 1 p.m.

* The Cobb House, 1302 Adams St. — Sister Paulinus Oakes and Sister Patricia Parker will present a history of the Sisters of Mercy in Vicksburg. 2:30 p.m.

* Linden Plantation Gardens, 505 Duncan Road — A presentation of the gardens of yesterday and today, plus a tour of the 10-acres garden on site. 4 p.m. 

* Complementary Friday evening concerts will be held at the Old Court House Museum, 1008 Cherry St., from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Performers include the Old Tyme Music Society on March 13, Clarissa and Mike Davis on March 20 and 27, and Nick and Julia Blake on April 3.

Saturday, March 14, 21, 28 and April 4:

* The Mary Harwood House, 600 Fort Hill Road — A review of the river defense during the Siege of Vicksburg. The home was strategic in defense of the city, with a cannon positioned in the front yard. 9:30 a.m.

* Anchuca Historic Mansion, 1010 First St. — A portrait of the life of Joseph E. Davis, elder brother and adviser to Confederate President Jefferson Davis, who died at the home in 1870. 11 a.m.

* Annabelle, 501 Speed St. — Vicksburg artist and designer Tana Ford will lead a jewelry-making demonstration, and the owners’ collection of vintage Victorian jewelry will also be on display. 1:30 p.m.

* Ahern’s Belle of the Bends, 508 Klein St. — Victorian floral arrangements using flowers with special meanings hand-picked from the gardens of the mansion. 3 p.m.

* Complementary Saturday evening events will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and include a book signing with author Mary Carol Miller at Lorelei Books, 1103 Washington St., on March 14; Southern Art and Music at The Attic Gallery and Highway 61 Coffeehouse, 1101 Washington St., on March 21 and 28; and a concert by Bridging the Gap at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center, 1302 Adams St., on April 4.

Sunday, March 15, 22, 29 and April 5:

* The Baer House, 1117 Grove St. — The art of quilt making with the Vicksburg Quilting Guild, demonstrating and discussing 1880’s-style quilt making and design. 11 a.m.

* The Duff Green Mansion, 1114 First East St. — A demonstration of medical practices and surgical procedures during the Civil War, featuring authentic instruments. 1:30 p.m.

* The Corners, 601 Klein St. — Linda Jackson of Suncatchers Studio will lead a demonstration on the art of making stained glass. 3 p.m.

* Cedar Grove, 2200 Oak St. — A tasting of period foods and spirits. 4:30 p.m.

Monday, March 16, 23, 30 and April 6

* The Shlenker House, 2212 Cherry St. — The lost art of tatting, featuring displays of fine linens, laces and clothing, as well as an exhibit of antique tools. 9:30 a.m.

* The George Washington Ball House, 921 Main St. — The owner will lead a discussion about the slave trade in Vicksburg with auction papers and maps. 11 a.m.

* Lakemont, 1103 Main St. — A unique collection of vintage Victorian figural napkin rings. 1:30 p.m.

* The Old Court House Museum, 1008 Cherry St. — A guided tour and tasting of delicacies taken from the Old Court House Museum’s cookbook, “Moore Groceries.” 3:30 p.m.
