Two Pennsylvania men were in the Warren County Jail this morning for trying to transport 16 pounds of marijuana from Houston, Texas, back to their college town of York, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Andre Ellis, 21, 251 E. Princess St., and Jomorrae Gordon, 23, 2680 Quaker Court, both of York, were arrested by Deputy Brad Redditt at about 2:30 this morning on Interstate 20 eastbound near the Utica exit after Redditt stopped the car for careless driving. Redditt smelled what he thought was pot, then brought out his K-9 partner, Zeus, who confirmed the aroma.

Inside the trunk where the pot was found, the deputy also found a 9mm handgun, Pace said. Gordon is a student at Pennsylvania State University, said Pace.

Ellis and Gordon are charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, Pace said.

Both men were being held without bond pending a bail hearing this afternoon.
