Samuel A. Norris

Samuel “Sam” A. Norris died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 64.

Mr. Norris lived in Vicksburg for over 45 years. He retired from Waterways Experiment Station as supervisor of the electrical shop after 30 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Lula Vaughn Norris; three brothers, Haskell Norris, Tommie Norris and Frank Norris; and two sisters, Laura Grace Norris and Ina Faye Ishee.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia Lee Norris of Vicksburg; two sons, Troy Norris and Randy Norris of Vicksburg; three sisters, Lucille Hart of Mize, Belle Eubanks of Mount Olive and Evelyn Kinstley of Jackson; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be noon Thursday until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bo Hart, J.R. Hart, Rusty Eubanks, Eddie Trest, Stanley Eubanks and Billy Carl Eubanks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Eugene Ferris and Doug Eubanks.
