Isabella Myles Person

PORT GIBSON — Isabella Myles Person, 93, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Claiborne County Nursing Center in Port Gibson.
A native of Port Gibson, Miss Person had spent the major part of her life living in Claiborne County. She was born Jan. 19, 1916, to Mary Anna Gage Person and James Wells Person, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Nancy P. McConaughy, Lucile Person and Mallie P. Magill.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie and Jane Person of Port Gibson; a niece and her husband, Ann M. and Mitchell Baker of Charleston, S.C., and nephews, Jim “Lee” Person, Will “Julie” Person and Thom “Janet” Person, all of Austin, Texas.
Miss Person was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson all her life and was active in civic affairs in Port Gibson, serving as a secretary of the Protestant Cemetery Association for many years. Isabella was associated with the Port Gibson Oil Works for many years and served as the company bookkeeper.
After her retirement, she was an avid bridge player and golfer. She was a charter member of the Mosswood Country Club.
Visitation was today, March 16, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Wintergreen Cemetery until the graveside service at 11.
