Lena G. Van Etten

Lena G. Van Etten died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at her home. She was 81.
Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Van Etten was the daughter of the late John Hicks Green and Lena Mae Williams Green. She was a graduate of Jett High School.
She retired from the Resource Management Office at the U.S. Waterways Experiment Station after 25 years of service. She was a member of the American Business Women Association and other professional organizations.
She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday school class and Bowmar Awesome Senior Saints.
Mrs. Van Etten was preceded in death by her husbands, Eustace N. Fielder and James Paul Van Etten; a sister, Johnnie Ellen Blazier; two brothers, Bill Green and Harvey Green; and a granddaughter, Michelle “Niki” Fielder.
She is survived by four daughters, Dian Mobley and Susan Broussard, both of Vicksburg, Paula Fielder of Russellville, Ark., and Edna Tillman of Delta, La.; two sons, David Fielder of Russellville and James Ray Van Etten of Vicksburg; one brother, Albert Jackson Green of Baton Rouge; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Fields, pastor of Triumph Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. Tuesday until the service.
Pallbearers will be Mark Freeman, Bennie Dougherty, Dr. Russell Terry, Reuben Lott, Doug Barlow and Charlie Caldwell.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
