ROLLING FORK — Lyle Bennett died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at his home in Rolling Fork. He was 88.
Born in Casey, Ill., Mr. Bennett had been a resident of the Rolling Fork area for 47 years. He retired after 44 years of service as a foreman for Mid-Valley Pipeline Co.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Rolling Fork Lions Club and served as a commissioner for the South Delta Housing Authority.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork, where he was church treasurer for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie A. Bennett of Rolling Fork; one son, Gregg Bennett of Crossett, Ark.; one daughter, Suelynn B. Cauthen of Rogers, Ark.; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork with the Revs. Millard Caulder and Reese Kyzar officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Cauthen, Christopher Cauthen, Lyle Bennett Jr., Steve White, Jimmy Walker and Bob Sandifer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Andrew George, Jeff McClendon, Jimmy Glisson, Neal Clinkscales, Bubba Wade and the men’s Sunday school class of First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork.
