A bank account has been opened to help a woman and her four children who lost their Grove Street home Friday to a fire.

“I have a real respect for her — a young mother of four children,” said David Clark, an employee of Wholesale Imports on Clay Street, who established the account for Lisa Parker at BancorpSouth.

The fire destroyed the Parkers’ 1519 Grove St. home in about 20 minutes. The family also lost a vehicle to the fire.

Clark said he has made a donation and challenged other furniture stores to do the same.

Clark said he is helping Parker because he once had a house fire and “was just appreciative of everything everyone has done for me.”

Clark said he met Parker in February and, “She is a humble, kind and hardworking mother for her kids and I’m drawn to her on that regard.”
