Two jailed in theft on Fisher Ferry

Two Vicksburg men were in the Warren County Jail this morning, accused of stealing cash, cigarettes and candy from a convenience store on Fisher Ferry Road Thursday.

Alton Burden, 38, 1635 Crawford St., and Johnathan Cole, 19, 522 Farmer St., were arrested at 9:50 a.m. and charged with business burglary and grand larceny earlier in the morning, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

The two are accused in a burglary at Shell Jubilee, 25 Fisher Ferry Road, in which $650 in candy and cigarettes and $350 in cash were taken, said Stewart.

Police arrested Burden and Cole at 1501 Martin Luther King Blvd. after viewing a store surveillance video of the vehicle used in the burglary, Stewart said.

Most of the stolen merchandise was recovered, Stewart said.

Police also charged Cole with business burglary and grand larceny in a theft reported March 20 at Best Value Rental, 1904 Clay St., in which several TVs, computers and home-theater systems were taken, said Stewart.

Cole was being held without bond.

Burden was being held on $2,500 bond.

Second man charged in burglary at hotel

A Vicksburg man in the Issaquena County Jail this morning has been charged as a co-conspirator in a burglary at Days Inn Hotel on Warrenton Road.

Hugh Myles, 44, 104 South Drive, was arrested  in New Orleans on unrelated charges on Monday, said Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department. After a national crime computer check of his name, he was found to be a suspect here.

Myles was returned to Vicksburg and was being held on a $5,000 bond.

Mark West, 32, 1031 Dixon Road, had been arrested in the same burglary on March 12.

Two city men held for drug court

Two Vicksburg men were in the Warren County Jail this morning for a drug court sanction.

Garrad Bunch, 27, 2230 Grove St., was arrested at 10:15 p.m. and Jermaine Sims, 24, 1001 First East St. Apt. B, was arrested at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, jail records said.

Both men were being held without bond.
