David DeWitt Arnold

CROWVILLE, La. — David DeWitt Arnold died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at his home. He was 86.

Mr. Arnold was born in Sicily Island, La., and was a World War II veteran. He was a retired farmer and had worked for the Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Annie Bell Arnold, and nine siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Faye Arnold of Crowville, La.; one son, David D. Arnold Jr. of Crowville; four daughters, Annie Arnold of Jackson, Janice Cooper of Crowville, Brenda McDonald of Tallulah and Kay King of Macon, Ga.; one brother, Ray Arnold of Monroe; three sisters, Joan Cartlidge of Point, La., Sue Parker of Crowville and Verlene Almond of Tallulah; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services were at 11 a.m. today at Warsaw Baptist Church in Waverly with the Revs. Marion Collier and Thomas Simons officiating. Burial followed at the Crowville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jason Brazell, Kenneth Wayne King, Robert Lopez, Jason Cummins, Jeremy Purvis and Greg Johnston.

Honorary pallbearers were Chris McDonald and Garth Sullivan.
