Casino worker charged in theft from co-worker

A casino worker turned herself in to the Vicksburg Police Department Tuesday for stealing a co-worker’s ring.

Bettina Fountain, 22, 110 Kirby St., Tallulah, had a warrant issued for her arrest after an employee of Riverwalk Casino Hotel, 1046 Warrenton Road, reported Sunday that her ring valued at more than $500 was missing, said Sgt. Sandra Williams.

Fountain was seen on casino video surveillance in the theft, said Williams.

She was charged with grand larceny and was released from jail on $1,500 bond.

Stabbing victim arrested for abuse

A Vicksburg man was in the Issaquena County Jail this morning after he received medical treatment at the hospital for being involved in a domestic fight.

Jermaine Sims, 24, 1001 First East St. Apt. A, was arrested at 12:41 a.m. at River Region Medical Center after he was treated for a knife wound in his back that he received from a person he attempted to abuse at a hotel on  U.S. 80 hours before he arrived at the hospital, said Sgt. Sandra Williams.

The victim was injured but did not go to the hospital, Williams said.

Sims was charged with third-offense domestic violence and was held without bond, said Williams.

Vicksburg man jailed for having stolen car

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning after being arrested for driving a stolen car.

Kevin Miller, 23, 144 Erves Road, was arrested at 12:48 p.m. Tuesday, jail records said. He was arrested after being stopped on U.S. 61 North for a traffic violation. No other information was available on the stolen car.

He was being held without bond.

Man charged with probation violation

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning for a probation violation.

Danny L. Jones, 54, 523 Farmer St., was arrested at 10 a.m. Tuesday and was being held for Mississippi Department of Corrections without bond, jail records said.

Games, TVs, cash among missing items

Three residential burglaries and four auto burglaries were reported in the city and county Tuesday.

* A generator, 15-horsepower Johnson outboard motor, a Ryobi weed trimmer, a Black and Decker electric saw, a Black and Decker electric drill, an electric battery charger, a booster box, a Johnson 9.9 outboard motor and a Shakespeare fishing rod and reel were reported missing at 4:45 p.m. from the storage room of a home in the 1100 block of Warrenton Road.

* About $360 saved in a piggy bank and plastic Pepsi bottle along with $1,600 of electronics such as a Compaq Presario laptop, two video game consoles, two iPods, a digital camera and a camcorder were reported missing at 12:24 p.m. from a home in the 800 block of Meadow Street.

* A Sharp microwave, a flat-screen TV, a safe containing personal documents and a Nintendo game console valued at $120 were reported missing at 6:45 p.m. from a home in the 2300 block of Oak Street.

In car burglaries:

• A Pioneer CD player valued at $200, a 10-inch Punch woofer and box valued at $200, a 500-watt amplifier valued at $300 and two speakers both valued at $50 were reported missing at 10:57 a.m. from a 1998 Honda Civic at the Confederate Ridge Apartments, 7080 U.S. 61 North.

* A Pioneer CD player was reported missing at 10:51 p.m. from a 1999 Dodge Ram at Horizon Casino, 1310 Mulberry St.

* An Adidas gym bag valued at $50 and the owner’s proof of insurance card were reported missing at 7:38 a.m. from a 2001 Dodge Durango at Ameristar Casino, 4116 Washington St.

* Also reported at the casino at the same time, two CDs both valued at $30 and a set of headphones valued at $20 were reported missing from a 2000 Toyota Camry.

* Credit cards and a checkbook were reported missing at 3 p.m. from a vehicle parked at Super Jr. food store, 4300 Nailor Road. 

In a Monday afternoon report, a woman reported her purse was taken from her car while it was parked in the 1100 block of Mulberry Street. Lt. Bobby Stewart said this morning that the suspect has been identified because he used a stolen debit card at a convience store Tuesday night. Also missing were personal papers, her wallet and credit cards.
