Port Gibson man held in attempt to pass altered prescription

A Port Gibson man was in the Warren County Jail this morning after attempting to pass a forged prescription at a local pharmacy, police said.

Johnny Yarborough, 60, 121 Martin Luther King Ave., was arrested at 2:58 p.m. Tuesday during a traffic stop at U.S. 61 South and Iowa Boulevard and charged with prescription forgery, said Sgt. Sandra Williams.

Yarborough was accused of altering the quantity of tablets of a prescription of the painkiller Lorcet given to him by a physician. Williams said he tried to have the altered prescription filled at  Battlefield Discount Drugs, 3040-A Indiana Ave.  He was held on a $1,500 bond.
