Transylvania man charged with rape of teen

A Transylvania man wanted since December for a charge of statutory rape in Vicksburg was arrested Wednesday, said Sgt. Sandra Williams of the Vicksburg Police Department.

Caleb Philley, 18, 1090 Stamboul Road, was released on $5,000 bond after being delivered by his parents to police, Williams said.

Philley is accused in a November incident with a minor described as 14 or 15 years old, Williams said.

City man arrested on felony DUI

A Vicksburg man was held at the Vicksburg Police Department this morning, accused of driving drunk.

John Robert Evans, 26, 1920 Martin Luther King Blvd., was arrested at 12:54 this morning at Cherry and Clay streets after a traffic stop and charged with his third DUI offense, a felony, said Sgt. Sandra Williams.

Evans was found to be intoxicated after he failed a portable breath test, said Williams.

He was held on a $7,500 bond.

Two ATVs missing at Redwood club

The burglary of two storage containers at a Redwood hunting club was reported at 11:14 a.m. Wednesday.

Missing from Willow Brake Hunting Club were a 2006 Honda TRX-500 Foreman valued at $7,000 and a 2005 Polaris Ranger ATV valued at $17,000.

Computer, purse among missing items

An auto burglary and a residential burglary were reported in the city Wednesday, and a residential burglary was reported in the county.

* A Pioneer CD player valued at $399.99 was reported missing at 8:30 a.m. from a 1995 Toyota Camry at Confederate Ridge Apartments, 7080 U.S. 61 North.

* A Sanyo 32-inch TV valued at $931.70, a Nikon digital camera valued at $150 and a Hewlett-Packard laptop valued at $800 were reported missing from an apartment at The Crossings, 2160 S. Frontage Road.

* A resident in the 500 block of Heartwood Drive reported her 2001 Buick vandalized with $3,500 in damages. In addition to the report, a Dooney and Bourke purse valued at $250, a book of 50 CDs valued at $500 and $300 were reported missing at 1:26 p.m. from her home.
