Weaver’s walkoff powers sweep

Sean Weaver enjoyed his first walk-off home run on Tuesday. That it came at the end of a blowout mattered little.
Weaver, St. Aloysius’ senior catcher, hit a three-run walk-off homer over the left center field fence to end a 17-4 rout of Pisgah in the first game of a doubleheader at Bazinsky Field. St. Al later finished the sweep with a 14-4 victory.
“Not the conventional walk-off. But a walk-off is a walk-off, I guess,” said Weaver, who went 2-for-2 with the homer, a double, three RBIs and four runs scored in game one. He also had an RBI single in game two. “It’s definitely my first walk-off by mercy rule. First walk-off, period.”
Blake Haygood had an outstanding day, going 5-for-5 in the two games. Senior outfielder Corey Jones was 4-for-5 on the day and drove in five runs. Pisgah (1-11, 1-11 Division 7-1A) jumped on top 1-0 in the top of the first inning of game one, but St. Al (18-3, 13-1) answered with eight runs in the bottom of the inning.
Pisgah scored two runs in the second and one in the third, but St. Al answered both times and led 14-4 before Weaver’s bomb ended it in the fourth inning.
