County man jailed for sexual contact with 3 children

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail Thursday for sexual contact with three children.
Michael Hart, 46, 1163 Standard Hill Road, was arrested near his home at about 8 a.m. Thursday and charged with three counts of sexual battery which reportedly occurred more than a year ago in Warren County, said Sheriff Martin Pace.
Pace would not release any more details on the case.
Hart was released on a $5,000 bond.
City man charged with eluding, cocaine
A Vicksburg man was at the Vicksburg Police Department this morning, charged with running away from police during a traffic stop more than a month ago.
Chauncy Rankin, 19, 2991 N. Washington St., was arrested at 9:45 p.m. Thursday during a police safety checkpoint at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Denmans Alley. He was charged with felony eluding for the March 2 incident and possession of cocaine, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.
Rankin was issued a warrant for his arrest stemming from the March 2 traffic stop on Mississippi 27, in which he fled police by jumping out of his vehicle and running into the woods, said Stewart.
During his arrest Thursday, police recovered about 2 grams of cocaine after a body search, said Stewart.
He was being held without bond.
Jeans, chips, cigs hot in burglaries
Three business burglaries were reported in the city early this morning and Thursday night.
* Twelve pairs of Fourcast jeans valued at $10 each and 19 pairs of GV jeans valued at $20 each were reported missing at 10:35 p.m. from Honeyz Scentz and Fashionz, 3427 Halls Ferry Road. This was the second business burglary reported at the shop in less than a month.
* Assorted bags of chips valued at $100 and $250 worth of Newport cigarettes were reported missing at 12:56 a.m. from the BP gas station, 3595 U.S. 61 South.
* Five cartons of Newport cigarettes valued at $200 were reported missing at 2:41 a.m. from the Chevron gas station, 4306 Halls Ferry Road.
Video games, console missing on Drummond
A residential burglary was reported at 12:21 p.m. Thursday, in which about $500 in Sony PlayStation 3 video games and a game console valued at $450 were reported missing from a home in the 3000 block of Drummond Street.
Navigation system, car are missing
An auto burglary was reported at 11:44 a.m. Thursday in the city, in which a navigation system valued at $2,000 was reported missing from a 2009 Chevy Tahoe in the 2300 block of North Frontage Road.
Separately, an auto theft was reported at 4:32 this morning from the Wal-Mart SuperCenter, 2150 Iowa Blvd., in which a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero valued at $4,000, unknown tag, was reported missing.
