Charles L. Stewart Sr. died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 81.

Mr. Stewart was born in Warren County, was of the Episcopal faith and had retired from Batesville Casket Co. and the Vicksburg Warren School District.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas E. Stewart Sr. and Althea Singleton Stewart; brother, W.G. Davis; sister, Freddie Winters; and son, Charles L. Stewart Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Louise M. Stewart of Vicksburg; daughter, Veronica Stewart of Vicksburg; brothers, Thomas E. Stewart Jr. of Los Angeles and W.H. Stewart of Vicksburg; and sister, Althea Baldwin of Vicksburg.

Services will be 11:45 a.m. Monday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Alonzo Jones and Mincer Minor officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
