DUNCANVILLE, Texas — Henry Harris, formerly of Vicksburg, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at the VA Medical Hospital in Dallas. He was 76.

Mr. Harris was a member of the Bahá’i Faith, having served on the Local Spiritual Assembly. He retired as a sergeant first class after serving in the Army and Army Corps of Engineers for 22 years.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nezzie Harris; three daughters, Martha Harris, Linda Pitchford and Marylin Harris, all of Duncanville; one sister, Dorothy Harris-Taylor of Tyler, Texas; two brothers, Sullivan Harris of New Orleans and Joseph Harris Jr. of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and other relatives and friends.

Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville has charge of arrangements.
