Bass to marry Washington

The engagement of Candace Patrice Bass to Arone Maceo Washington, both of Hattiesburg, is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 4 p.m. May 23, 2009, at Travelers Rest M.B. Church of Vicksburg. A reception will follow at St. Mary’s Center, 1512 Main St. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Miss Bass, formerly of Vicksburg, is the daughter of Bernice Bass, Saul E. Hilliard and the late Johnny Lee Turner, all of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Betty Bass and Katie Mae Bass.
Mr. Washington, formerly of Vicksburg, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard White and Mose Hearron of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Steve Washington, the late Geneva Lewis, the late Rosie Lee Buchanan, the late Mose Ellis and Virgia Ellis, all of Vicksburg.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was chosen Class Favorite and was a member of the Student Council, JROTC, FBLA and Just Say No.
She received an Associate of Arts degree from Jones County Junior College and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and management information systems. She was a member of PBL, NAACP, AASO and Lincoln Chapter No. 39 Order of Eastern Star.
Miss Bass is employed with Schwartz & Associates of Jackson.
The prospective groom is a graduate of Warren Central High School, where he was a member of FBLA, FFA and the varsity football team.
He received an associate degree in meat merchandising from Hinds Community College, where he was a member of St. James Grand Lodge IV AF&AM.
Mr. Washington is assistant manager of the Save Rite Meat Department in Hattiesburg.
