Duff Richard Austin

MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Duff Richard Austin, 56, of Maryville, Tenn., formerly of Cleveland, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cleveland with the Rev. Tim Starnes officiating. Burial will follow at North Cleveland Cemetery under the direction of Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 until 6 today at the funeral home.

Duff received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from Mississippi State University. He was employed at Bechtel Engineering. He married Lorna Rogers. He was a member and deacon for many years at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Vicksburg. He was a member of the Mississippi Civil Air Patrol and the National Society of Professional Engineers. Duff was an avid pilot, outdoorsman and black powder rifle enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Samuel Austin.

Survivors include his wife, Lorna Austin; son and daughter-in-law, David and Kura Reily of Mississippi; daughters, Elizabeth Beth Anderson of Mississippi and Sarah Catherine Reily of Maryville; his mother, Rebecca L. Austin of Cleveland; three sisters, Cathy Smith (David), Susan Stewart (John) and Melinda Neill (James); and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
