One of the running jokes among Porters Chapel’s baseball players is Matt Warren’s lack of power at the plate. Almost every time the sophomore infielder lofts a fly ball into the outfield, his teammates razz him with cries of “warning track!”

Thursday, 6 p.m. – PCA hosts Glenbrook. Game 2
After Tuesday, he may have heard the last of that.
Warren hit the first home run of his high school career, a tiebreaking three-run shot in the top of the sixth inning, to lift PCA to a 6-3 win over Glenbrook in Game 1 of a first-round MPSA Class A playoff series. Warren also had a single and finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
“It was perfect timing for his first home run. His dad said it was the first one he’s hit since he was 12 years old,” PCA coach Randy Wright said.
Montana McDaniel added a solo homer in the seventh and kept Glenbrook (18-5) in check with seven solid innings on the mound. McDaniel allowed only four hits and one walk, and struck out seven to improve his record to 8-1.
PCA (18-8) committed four errors, though, which helped Glenbrook take a 2-1 lead after five innings. Joe Borrello then led off the top of the sixth with a walk, moved to second on a single by Josh Perry, and scored the tying run on an RBI single by Josh Hill. With two outs, Warren hit his three-run homer to put the Eagles ahead 5-2.
PCA can close it out by winning Game 2 at home on Thursday at 6 p.m. If Glenbrook wins, it will host Game 3 on Friday at 4 p.m.
