A Vicksburg man was injured Monday when he was caught between two train cars in an industrial yard at the Port of Vicksburg.
Eric Abcock, 24, 1740 Hankinson Road, was in good condition this morning at University Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.
Abcock, an employee of Kinder Morgan Bulk Terminals, was “pinched between two train cars,” in the 10 a.m. accident near the Port Terminal Circle crossing, said Deputy Fire Chief Rose Shaifer. “His co-workers picked him out from between the cars and put him up on top so he could be treated,” she said.
Fire, rescue and police responded to the scene, where five rescue workers climbed on top of the freight piled in the railroad car to tend to Abcock.
Abcock was taken to River Region Medical Center and later transferred to UMC.
A spokesman from Kinder Morgan declined comment. Shaifer said the train cars were not connected to an engine and were not being pulled through the yard. It was not known why the cars rolled together.
