A Vicksburg native is making a splash in the world of reality television.
On TV
New episodes of “Daisy of Love” are at 8 p.m. Sundays on VH1. Reruns are shown throughout the week.
Jeremiah Riggs is one of 20 contestants on the VH1 reality show “Daisy of Love,” which premiered Sunday night. The show, one of many on the network with a similar theme, follows a group of young men as they vie for the affection of a young woman — in this case, Daisy De La Hoya, a cousin of former boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya. During each episode, contestants are dismissed from the show until one remains.
On Sunday’s season premiere, the 25-year-old Riggs was given the nickname “Big Rig” by De La Hoya and survived the first cut. Though Riggs was not featured prominently in Sunday’s episode, clips from future shows that were shown along with the premiere appear to show him in a prominent role in the future. On VH1’s Web site, a picture accompanying a preview of next week’s episode shows Riggs kissing De La Hoya.
Born and raised in Vicksburg, Riggs was a high school football star at Porters Chapel Academy, where he graduated in 2001. After high school, he served in Iraq as an Army Ranger and has embarked on a career as a professional mixed martial arts fighter.
