Rector inducted as MBS fellow
Vicksburg lawyer Kenneth B. Rector has been inducted into the Mississippi Bar Foundation as a fellow.
Rector practiced law for several years in Chicago and was admitted to the Trial Bar of the Northern District of Illinois before he returned to Mississippi in 1993. He is currently a partner in Wheeless, Shappley, Bailess and Rector and practices civil litigation, commercial transactions and employment law.
He has been president of the Warren County Bar Association and is on the Secretary of State’s Business Reform Committee for Limited Liability Companies and Partnerships.
Rector has bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Mississippi and was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1977 and the Illinois Bar in 1989. He and his wife, Kay, also an attorney, live in Vicksburg with their four children.
PERS members to cast ballots
Eleven candidates are running for a spot on the Public Employees’ Retirement System of Mississippi Board of Trustees.
The election will fill an unexpired term, through June 30, 2014, created by the retirement of John L. Mulholland.
Ballots, biographical information and candidate statements will be mailed to PERS state employees by May 18. Members may vote by mail, phone or Internet, and the deadline is 5 p.m. June 18.
If no candidate receives a majority of votes, there will be a runoff between the two with the most votes.
The candidates are:
