Brothers held in attempts to break into storage

Two Vicksburg brothers were arrested for an attempted burglary at the Magnolia Self Storage.

Shaun Neihaus, 30, 215 Cairo Drive, and Bryan Neihaus, 20, 452 Tilton Ranch Road, were seen attempting to break locks on storage units by the owner of the business who then notified police, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

The brothers were arrested at 2:58 p.m. Saturday and charged with attempted business burglary of the Magnolia Self Storage, 3711 U.S. 61 South, said Stewart.

Shaun Neihaus was released from the Warren County Jail Saturday on a $20,000 bond and Bryan Neihaus was released on a $15,000 bond.

City man held on Texas warrant

A Vicksburg man was in the Issaquena County Jail this morning on hold for an arrest warrant in Denton, Texas.

Todd Shanks Jr., 20, 631 Grange Hall Road, was arrested by Vicksburg police at 10:43 a.m. Saturday on Washington and Speed streets during a traffic stop, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

After a check of his identity, he was found to have an arrest warrant from Denton for grand larceny, in which he is accused of taking items valued at more than $1,500, said Stewart.

He was held on a $2,500 bond.

City man charged with car burglaries

A Vicksburg man was in the Issaquena County Jail this morning for two auto burglaries that occurred April 2 in the 1000 block of First East Street.

Fredrick Hill, 26, 1720 Martin Luther King Blvd., was arrested at 6:48 p.m. Friday in the 2000 block of Clay Street and charged with two counts of auto burglaries, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

Hill was identified through fingerprints on the vehicles, said Stewart.

Hill is accused of breaking into a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette in which CDs valued at $60 was reported missing, and a 2006 GMC pickup, nothing reported taken, said Stewart.

He was held on a $35,000 bond.

Jackson man held for counterfeit checks

A Jackson man was in the Issaquena County Jail this morning for passing fake checks at Ameristar Casino.

Jason Brown, 24, 2303 Princess Pine Drive, was arrested at Riverwalk Casino Hotel, 1046 Warrenton Road, at 11:47 p.m. Friday after casino security observed him and then notified Vicksburg police, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

Brown is accused of passing two counterfeit checks totaling $2,536 at Ameristar Casino, 4116 Washington St., said Stewart.

He was charged with two counts of uttering a forgery and held without bond.

Kicking in of door lands city man in jail

A Vicksburg man was held at the Vicksburg Police Department this morning charged with residential burglary.

Marcus Johnson, 28, 1236 Shirley Ave., was arrested at 4:35 this morning at an apartment complex on 1950 Hope St., after police responded to a burglary in progress, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

Johnson was seen kicking in the front door of an apartment by the resident, said Stewart.

He was held without bond.

Car reported missing from city’s outlets

An auto theft was reported on Friday from the Outlets at Vicksburg, 4000 S. Frontage Road.

A 1996 green Nissan Altima, Louisiana tag DHN 261, was reported missing at 1:40 p.m. from the parking lot of the outlet mall.

Tools and cash among missing items

Three auto burglaries were reported in the city during the weekend.

• A Stihl cut-off saw valued at $1,100, a Stihl chain saw valued at $800 and a cell phone booster antenna valued at $40 were reported missing at 8:22 a.m. Friday from a 2007 Chevrolet pickup in the 3900 block of Clay Street.

• Two 10-inch Fosgate Punch subwoofers valued at $280 and a Kicker 300-watt amplifier valued at $150 were reported missing at 9:56 a.m. Friday from a 2001 Chevrolet Lumina in the 700 block of U.S. 61 North.

• Reported missing at 1 p.m. Friday from a 1985 Chevrolet pickup was $200.

TV, lawn mower missing from homes

Five residential burglaries were reported in the city and in the county during the weekend.

• A John Deere lawn mower valued at $500 and a Homelite weed trimmer valued at $80 were reported missing at 2:30 p.m. Friday from the storage shed of a home in the 100 block of Green Hill Drive.

• A 32-inch Sony TV valued at $800 and a bedroom set valued at $1,300 were reported missing at 10:16 a.m. Sunday from a home in the 900 block of China Street.

• A Daisy BB pistol valued at $40 was reported missing at 4:15 p.m. Sunday from a home in the 300 block of Bayou Boulevard.

• A Remington 870 shotgun valued at $400, a Ruger rifle valued at $350 and a fly fishing rod valued at $250 were reported missing at 12:55 p.m. from a home in the 100 block of McCullough Place.

• A Troy-Bilt garden tiller valued at $1,800 was reported missing at 10:07 a.m. Sunday from a shed next to a home in the 700 block of Ceres Boulevard and later recovered in a field across from the home.
