A Vicksburg man who was attempting to confront an intruder was shot in the head this morning and was in critical condition in a Jackson hospital.

Chicolby Johnson, 19, 3655 Wisconsin Ave., was shot at his uncle’s home at 3657 Wisconsin Ave., said Lt. Bobby Stewart. Johnson was in critical condition in University Medical Center, spokesman Peggy Wagner said. He was transferred to Jackson after initial treatment at River Region Medical Center.

A friend of Johnson’s who heard the shot called officials after the shooting.

The shooter fled the scene and police had no suspects, Stewart said.
