Charlene E. Simmons died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 79.

Born in Bolivar County, Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and a member of New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Simmons; her father, Charlie Harris; and her mother, Estella Prophet Waites.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda J. Brown of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; and other relatives.
