Richard Earl Smith Sr. died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at his home. He was 49.

Mr. Smith had lived most of his life in Vicksburg. He was a self-employed automobile mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Otis Smith; and a sister, Katherine Smith.

Survivors include a son, Richard Earl Smith Jr. of Newton; his parents, W.D. Sr. and Louise Smith of Vicksburg; one brother, William D. Smith Jr. of Vicksburg; two stepbrothers, Daniel Gregory of Raleigh, Miss., and Henry Lee Williams of Vicksburg; and a stepsister, Sandra Gregory of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Chambers, Corey Maples, Plezy Hasty, Shane Wilson, Johnny Johnson and Michael Jones.
