One of four teens charged in a string of robberies across the city this month has been released on bond.
Sha’Kayla Caples, 18, 414 Ford Road, a Warren Central High School basketball standout, was released Saturday from the Warren County Jail on a $375,000 bond.
Caples was arrested Wednesday, and bond was originally set at $400,000. It was reduced to $375,000 during an initial court hearing Thursday.
The other teens accused in the robberies — Deshawn Williams, 17, 297 Douglas Road; Jacorey Wright, 16, 1405 Locust St.; and Blake Reed, 2501 Culkin Road, Apt. G8 — remained held on bond and were transferred Friday to Issaquena County Jail. Their bonds also were reduced Thursday.
The four are accused in six of 10 reported armed robberies and attempted armed robberies against pedestrians on Drummond and Mulvihill streets, Oak and Klein streets, Berryman Road, City Front and other locations. Their cases are expected to be heard by the August term of the Warren County grand jury.
More arrests had been expected, but Vicksburg Lt. Bobby Stewart said this morning none had been made.
