Callie Jordan Gathings

MEMPHIS — Callie Jordan Gathings died Friday, May 15, 2009. She was 80.

Mrs. Gathings was a retired school teacher, having worked for the Memphis City Schools and in Blytheville, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Samuel A. Gathings; her parents, Berry Jordan Sr. and Callie Tabb Jordan; her stepmother, Melisia Jordan; and her siblings, Andrew C. Jordan, Charlene Dortch, Pearlean Hollins and J.W. Neal.

Survivors include three brothers, Odell Jordan, Berry Jordan Jr. and Roosevelt Jordan, all of Vicksburg; two sisters, Cora McClatcher of Memphis and Willie Mae Brown of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including members of the Tabb family of Michigan, California, New York and Nevada.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Golden United Methodist Church, 4028 Neely Road in Memphis. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Funeral Home Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave. in Memphis, and from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the church.
