City man sought in overnight shooting

A Vicksburg man who is suspected of shooting into an occupied vehicle early this morning was being sought by city police.
Jonathan Jackson, 20, 207 Starlight Drive, is accused of shooting into a 1999 Toyota Camry at 2:13 a.m. while at the Exxon Jubilee station, 1215 Mission 66, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.
The shooting stemmed from an earlier incident between Jackson and the victim, said Stewart.
When arrested, Jackson will be charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle and three counts of aggravated assault for the three people in the car, said Stewart.
No injuries were reported.
Crystal Springs man held for stolen bike
A Crystal Springs man was in the Warren County Jail this morning accused of riding a stolen motorcycle.
Myron Maurice Henderson, 24, 201 Agnes St., was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Thursday after being seen riding recklessly on a 2007 Suzuki GSR 1000 motorcycle reported missing four hours earlier from a home on Thompson Lake Road, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.
The motorcycle valued at $12,000 was recovered at the time of Henderson’s arrest in the 1200 block of Jefferson Street, said Stewart.
He was charged with auto theft and was held on a $15,000 bond.
Trombone missing from VHS band hall
Several thefts were reported in the city and county Thursday.
• A student-owned trombone valued at $1,000 was reported missing at 8:18 a.m. from the band hall at the Vicksburg High School at 3701 Drummond St.
• A 24-foot gooseneck utility trailer valued at $3,700 was reported missing at 3:44 p.m. from Arc-Up Welding, 76 Business Park Drive.
• A Hi-Point 380 handgun valued at $300 was reported missing at 8:17 a.m. from a 2003 Ford Explorer in the 2600 block of Pearl Street.
• A North American Arms 22-caliber magnum pistol valued at $168 was reported missing at 4:38 p.m. from a 2007 Honda CR-V in 3100 block of Jeff Davis Road in the county.
Also, three residential burglaries were reported in the county.
• A Dell laptop valued at $500, a 26-inch Sanyo flat-screen TV valued at $350, a PlayStation 3 game system valued at $400 and a Nintendo Wii game system valued at $250 were reported missing at 7:40 p.m. from a home in the 600 block of Heartwood Drive.
• A Marlin 444-caliber rifle valued at $675 was reported missing at 5:11 p.m. from a home in the 4500 block of Bovina Cut Off Road.
• Four chrome Velocity 158 rims valued at $700 were reported missing at 10:59 a.m. from the back property of a home in the 700 block of Mosley Gap Road.
City woman jailed for probation violation
A Vicksburg woman was in the Warren County Jail this morning for violating probation.
Sylvia Aquilar, 30, 50 Summer St., was arrested at 10:40 a.m. Thursday and was being held by Mississippi Department of Corrections for probation violation, jail records said.
She was held without bond.
Redwood woman’s car falls down 40-foot embankment
A Redwood woman was take to a hospital after her car careened down a 40-foot embankment Thursday.
Maria Height, 29, 4000 block of Redwood Road, was taken to River Region Medical Center after her car veered off the main road and into a 40-foot ravine, said Warren County deputy sheriff Stacy Shiers.
Emergency officials had to use a rope to pull Height back to the road, Shiers said.
Hospital officials did not respond to a call for a condition report on Height.
