Boxes of food donated
The Storehouse Community Food Pantry would like to thank the postal carriers and the community for the food donated in the recent Postal Carriers’ Annual Food Drive. The Storehouse Community Food Pantry received 22 boxes of food. That helps us so much. We also thank the local churches and individuals whose donations of food and money keep us going. The Storehouse Community Food Pantry is an all-volunteer organization that distributes a three-day supply of food to people in emergency situations.

Volunteers helped
The Vicksburg Warren Humane Society thanks United Way of West Central Mississippi for its annual day of caring April 23. We thank Cindy Hilton as one of the project organizers and all the business that spared their employees to help out charity groups. RiverHills Bank and Ameristar Casino helped us and, together, we reworked our flower beds by planting day lilies and trimming hedges and pulling weeds. The volunteers potted plants and planted a bush, which made our overall appearance so much more appealing. They also walked dogs, which always gives the animals a break from confinement, and they love the exercise. Afterward we had a great piazza party with much laughter and camaraderie. Deepest thanks to Kim Alexander, Davina Hellard, Jacquith Neal and Denise Hambright from Ameristar Casino and to Faye Trim, Shelia James, Chanetell Johnson and Kim Shuttlesworth from RiverHills. Again, thanks for the wonderful day.

Donors gave boost
The ladies of Clear Creek Golf Association would like to express their deep appreciation to the Vicksburg and surrounding area vendors who made their annual invitational golf tournament a success.
The management and maintenance staff of Clear Creek Golf Course created the perfect atmosphere to entertain all of our out-of-town guests. This year’s tournament had special meeting as it was dedicated to our special friend and fellow golfer, Laverne Russell, who we lost unexpectedly this year.
Vicksburg can take pride in this outpouring of support, showing once again that true Southern hospitality exists in our home town.
