ST. JOSEPH — Sidney “Paps” Lee died Sunday, May 24, 2009. He was 65.
Mr. Lee farmed in Tensas Parish for 40 years. He served on the board of directors for Tensas Academy for eight years and on the board of First South Production Credit, Planters Gin and Gravity Drainage District 3. He was chairman of the Farm Service Agency County Committee for nine years and served as a deacon at St. Joseph Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Maggie Ezernac Lee; and a sister, Edna Mae Lee.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sandra Choat Lee of St. Joseph; two sons, Darron Jeffery Lee and David Ross Lee, both of St. Joseph; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and friends and other relatives, including Virginia Choat of St. Joseph.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Baptist Church with Mike Pennock officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday, La. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Lee, Kellon Lee, David Lee, James Arceneaux Jr., Ronnie Parker and David Fussell.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the men’s Sunday school class of St. Joseph Baptist Church, Robert Bradley, Robert Carroll, Roy Jackson and Charlie Joe James.
