Mary Watson died Monday, June 1, 2009, at her home. She was 77.

Mrs. Watson was a member of Pleasant Hill M.B. Church. She retired as a cashier from Ione’s Grocery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Watson Sr.; her parents, Dosie Johnson and Nonnie Hugh Harris; six sisters, Winnie Scott, Susan Ann Hugh, Alice Patten, Everlyne Dyer, Lula Mae King and Alma Gilmore; and seven brothers, Dorsey Johnson, George Johnson, James Johnson, A.J. Johnson, Dan Barnes, Abraham Combs and Alex Harris.

She is survived by a son, Walter Watson Jr. of Vicksburg; five daughters, Delores Watson, Edith Caples, Lillie Tubbs, Addie Clark and Bessie Watson, all of Vicksburg; three sisters, Juanita Patton of Akron, Ohio, Ollie Curtis of Chicago and Berthina King of Port Gibson; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
