Testimony began this morning in the trial of three Sharkey County men accused of murdering Cary resident Hunter Hoye in September.

Prosecutors were expected to present all of their witnesses today, said District Attorney Ricky Smith.

The defendants include two brothers, John and Tyrone Traylor, both of Cary, and Malcolm Williams of Rolling Fork.

Hoye, who was 40, was killed Sept. 14. The body of the longtime Cary resident was found the following day in Deer Creek. An autopsy showed that he died of blunt trauma to the head.

John Traylor, 47, and Tyrone Traylor, 46, both of 318 Maiden Circle, were arrested Oct. 8. Williams, 41, 38 Poinsettia Drive, surrendered to the Sharkey County Sheriff’s office Oct. 16. Each was being held in the Sharkey County Jail on $500,000 bond.

A jury of eight women and four men was chosen Tuesday. Smith said the case would probably go to them for deliberation before the lunch recess Thursday.

All three defendants are represented by Vicksburg attorneys — John Traylor by Eugene Perrier, Tyrone Traylor by Leighanne Cade and Williams by Michael Winfield.
