Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen agenda items

Meeting Wednesday, the Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen, in the absence of South Ward Alderman Sid Beauman:

• OK’d seeking $13,500 from the state Department of Public Safety to pay overtime to police officers to enforce seat belt and child restraint laws, provide seminars on seat belt use and give away child safety seats. The local match is $1,500.

• OK’d seeking $5,655 from the U.S. Department of Justice to buy 15 protective vests through the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program. The match is $5,655.

• Accepted a bid of $6,540 per month on a three-year contract for bulk liquid dioxide carbon receivers and liquid carbon dioxide for the water treatment plant from NexAir LLC of Pearl.

• Opened bids for an engine-driven generator set from EMI of Ridgeland, $31,999; Wesley Jones Electrical Inc. of Vicksburg, $25,567; and Reagan Equipment Co. of Vicksburg, $30,673.

• Opened bids for reroofing Vicksburg Auditorium from Central Roofing of West Monroe, $74,287; Dobson Sheet Metal & Roofing Inc. of Mobile, $172,242; Guaranteed Roofing Co. Inc. of Pearl, $97,640; M&S Roofing Company Inc. of Pearl, $84,900; and Southern Roofing Co. Inc. of Jackson, $101,484.

• Awarded bids for fire department uniforms to Mid South Uniforms of Memphis, with items ranging from $26.39 for embroidered shirts to $117 for jackets.

• Awarded bids for pebble lime to Falco Lime of Vicksburg at $125.74 per ton.

• Awarded bids for vehicle accessories to Fleet Supply Equipment of Memphis and Roper Supply of Picayune.

• Tabled awarding bids for surplus property at 805 2nd North and 1110 Grammar St.

• Continued a month-to-month lease with Cairo Holding for a mobile home as the administrative office at the Vicksburg Municipal Airport while the terminal is under construction.

• Authorized dismantling remnants of a trestle on city property Glass Road by Warren County. 

• Authorized Maptech of Blacksburg, Va., to provide topographic surveys, at a maximum of $3,750,  at Vicksburg Municipal Airport for a T-hangar project.

• Moved $3,500 in water and gas administration funds to purchase desks and chairs.

• OK’d use by Americorps of 30 parking spaces at the city parking garage on Walnut Street from July 31 through May 31.

• Approved a fire department purchase of promotional items from RDJ Specialties Inc. of Cordova, Tenn., for $1,191.

• Approved a $35,000 TV sponsorship of the Miss Mississippi Pageant.

• Added Danium P. Jones in the right of way department to the employee driving list.
