Man, 77, jailed after handicapped son left in car

A 77-year-old Louisiana man was arrested at Rainbow Casino, 1380 Warrenton Road, Thursday at 5:30 p.m. after leaving his adult son, who has mental and physical disabilities, in his vehicle for an extended period of time, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said today.
Thodis Thompson, 337 W. Line Road, Epps, was charged with vulnerable adult neglect. He was released from the Warren County Jail on $2,500 bond.
Thompson’s son, 53, was taken to River Region Medical Center where he was treated for dehydration and released to another family member, Stewart said.
Games, snacks hot in city burglaries
Video games and snacks were targets for residential burglaries in the city Thursday.
An X-Box 360 game system valued at $350 and three X-Box games valued at $40 each were reported stolen at 3:58 p.m. from a home in the 100 block of Eastover Drive, said police Lt. Bobby Stewart.
A home in the 2400 block of Oak Street was reported burglarized at 4:22 p.m, Stewart said. Stolen were a package of Oreo cookies valued at $3, a bag of chips valued at $2.99, ice cream valued at $5.99, Popsicles valued at $3 and cartons of juice valued at $2.50.
Cash taken from purse stolen on Wisteria
A purse was reported stolen from a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country van in the 1400 block of Wisteria Drive Thursday at 5:30 p.m., said police Lt. Bobby Stewart.
The purse was recovered at 7:05 p.m. in the same block, missing $60, Stewart said.
City man arrested in car burglary
A Vicksburg man was arrested at his home Thursday for auto burglary, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Terrence Jackson, 24, 508 Speed St., was charged with Tuesday’s burglary of a 2000 Toyota Camry parked at the BP Station at 3613 Wisconsin Road. A purse was stolen from the car. Jackson was identified from video surveillance at the convenience store.
The purse was recovered. No information was provided on any missing contents.
Jackson was released from Warren County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Two house burglaries reported in county
Two residential burglaries were reported in Warren County Thursday, jail records showed.
Household furniture was reported stolen at 11:32 a.m. from a residence in the 100 block of Greyline Drive. Missing was a Whirlpool washing machine valued at $100, a fire engine toddler bed valued at $40, a Paul Bunyan Southwest bed valued at $700, a white dresser with pink and purple butterflies valued at $100 and a white armoire with pink and purple butterflies valued at $100.
A green 2004 Honda TRX 450 4-wheeler was reported stolen at 3:10 p.m. from a home in the 10400 block of U.S. 61 South. No estimate of the vehicle’s value was provided.
