Silvercloud a big success

Published 12:00 am Saturday, June 13, 2009

The Junior Auxiliary of Vicksburg would like to thank all the wonderful volunteers who helped make the 11th Camp Silvercloud such a great success. We would especially like to thank the Southern Belles for donating and preparing the snacks and lunches each day. Thank you to Kroger and Nabisco for the food donations as well.

The Knights of Columbus generously provided Camp Silvercloud with a fantastic facility which allowed us to have a wide range of activities for the campers. The campers all loved their T-shirts designed by The Latest Craze. Hopkins Photography provided each camper with a picture to remember their time at Camp Silvercloud.

Thank you again to all who helped JAV provide these very special children a memorable camp experience.

PAK ladies were welcome

The ladies of Pi Alpha Kappa Sorority recently held their national convention in Mansell Hall of Vicksburg’s First Presbyterian Church. We wish to thank all those who made this event so successful.

We are grateful to Beta Chapter President Georgia Turnage for opening her beautiful home to us for the reception. Thank you also Katherine Turcotte, Joan Donovan, June Emerson, Connie Greer, Myrtle Curro-Alvarado, Anita Hossley, and the ladies of Omega Chapter for the morning refreshments.

Chris Patin led a very moving memorial service for the five sisters and five spouses we lost over the past two years, Helene Benson and the Delta Chapter sisters provided the delightful hat decorations to carry out the theme of “Hats Off to PAK Sisterhood.” Door prizes were contributed by all chapters. Alpha Chapter provided the programs and memorial booklets.

The entire convention was under the able direction of Joann White, convention chairman.

We also thank caterer Betty Palmertree for the delicious salads and desserts and musician Clay Koestler for providing the entertainment at the Installation Luncheon. Were were pleased to host our scholarship winner and her mother and other guests at this celebratory event.

Food donations help

The Women’s Restoration Shelter would like to thank the U.S. Postal Carriers and the community for the successful food drive. The food drive blesses us abundantly each year and we appreciate the U.S. Postal Carriers for supplying the place to distribute the food, patience and time given to the program.

We would also like to thank the volunteers who were faithful to show up and help with the packing, separating and storing of the food.

Our community is faithful to the drive each year and we thank you for your commitment to help our homeless.
