Irby, Ming to wed June 27

The engagement of Neely Carol Irby to Wesley Ray Ming, both of Shreveport, La., is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 11 a.m. June 27, 2009, at Rocky Springs Methodist Chapel in Rocky Springs, Miss. A reception will follow at Monsour’s at the Biscuit Company.

Miss Irby is the daughter of David Vance and Madolyn Smith Irby of Greenwood and Gale Stokes and Paul Allen of Lake Providence. She is the granddaughter of the late Peyton Smith Irby and the late Mary Davis Irby of Greenville and Betty Madeline Pierce and the late Charles Joseph Stokes of Vicksburg.

Mr. Ming is the son of Margaret Rogers Ming and the late Rev. Garland Ray Ming of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of the late Alvie Garland and the late Tula Hooks Ming of Starkville and the late James Leroy and the late Louie Irene Rogers of Louisville.

The bride-elect received a degree in elementary education from Alcorn State University.

Miss Irby is a preschool teacher at The Providence House.

The prospective groom is a 1995 graduate of Vicksburg High School, where he played varsity baseball and soccer. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi Film School and graduated from the U.S. Department of Defense Information School with a degree in public relations and broadcast journalism.

Mr. Ming is a digital media specialist for The Shreveport Times.
