Murals are awesome
Vicksburg Main Street would like to thank everyone involved with the Riverfront Murals. We are so very proud to have such a beautiful addition to our downtown area. We would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Robert Dafford, Mrs. Nellie Caldwell, and all of the volunteers who made this project possible.
We are very appreciative of the group of ladies who had this vision of making our floodwall much more than just a concrete wall. Because of them, we, as a city, have something great to share with tourists and locals alike. It is truly one of the great attractions in our city. Mr. Dafford did a wonderful job at depicting the important events that define Vicksburg.
Following the last mural unveiling, we had a wonderful reception to celebrate the completion of this project. The reception would not have been possible without some of the local restaurants and businesses. We would like to give a special thanks to Ameristar Casino, Beechwood, Duff Green Mansion, Goldie’s, Goldie’s Express, Heavenly Ham, LD’s Kitchen, Osgood and Blaque, Ronnie Bounds, Rowdy’s, Storycook Favorites, Taco Casa, The Warehouse, Trustmark, Uptown Florist, Walnut Hills, Ann Grimshel, City of Vicksburg, Jeff Richardson and landscaping department, Lynn Horton, Robert Hubbard and community service, the Vicksburg Police Department and TV23.
We would like to thank Koestler’s Bakery, Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum, Ameristar, Old Court House Museum, The Vicksburg Post, Vicksburg National Military Park, Rowdy’s, and Anderson-Tully for donating door prizes to be given away following the unveiling.
Everything needed for this project was provided by our community. This great success would not have been possible without your help!

Worst time, best friends
The most difficult event that has happened to our families happened the night of May 16. Tyler and Hadyn Smith ended their walk here on earth. In their passing, our grief crushed us. When we were taking the life one minute at a time, something very special happened. Our family, our friends and even those we didn’t know appeared and asked, “What can we do?” When we asked for anything, it happened. When times came that we couldn’t ask, they did what they knew we needed done.
For those of you who said you didn’t know what to say, neither do we. They don’t write books about that, and we didn’t have time to read them anyway. For those who couldn’t say anything, that’s all right, too. Sometimes, we couldn’t either. A hug says an awful lot, and we got plenty of those.
If you said a prayer for us, we can only thank you for the honor of being so special that you would place us before the throne of God.
There are so many people to thank, and yet, if we made a list, we’d miss someone and that wouldn’t be right. How can we say thank you in a way that lets all of you know what a difference you have made, and will continue to make in our lives? We hope that a very heartfelt thank you will be enough for right now, because none of us can think of anything better.
I would also like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the gentleman who heard my daughter’s desperate screams and stopped to help. I’m sure she would have done all in her power to get to her little boys, just as her husband did, so thank you whoever you are, you’re an angel to this family, May God bless you.

A signing success
On behalf of the Outlets at Vicksburg, we would like to thank the citizens of Vicksburg for supporting our first Miss Mississippi’s Outstanding Teen Pageant autograph party.
We would like to give special thanks to Nancy Watkins of Watkins Nursery for providing several beautiful plants for decoration. Thanks to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department for their time and services, the Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen Pageant staff and volunteers, friends and family. Thanks to Delisha Wiggins, Miss River Bend 2009, for helping prepare and host this event. The autograph party was a major success and enjoyed by all.
This group of young ladies did an outstanding job of representing their reigning titles. We are looking forward to hosting this event again in 2010.

Nosser family grateful
Please accept my sincere thanks for the wonderful coverage extended for the dedication of the floodwall mural honoring my parents, Pete and Bessie Nosser. The event was wonderful and certainly deserving for a young man, an immigrant to this country from Lebanon and only 29 years old at the time, who opened the first Supermarket in Vicksburg. Such significance!! The American Dream come true!!
On behalf of the Nosser, Dottley, Mims and McRight families, my thanks again to each and every person responsible for this celebration.
