John and Irene Maxey celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2009. They are the parents of 10 children: Mildred (Malcolm), Leonard Sr. (Brenda), Margaret (Bobby), Marilyn (Jean), Cynthia (Michael), Jeffery, Delphine (Thomas), Gerald, the late Charles Maxey and the late Geary Maxey. They also have 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Maxey is retired from Waterways Experiment Station, where he worked for 30 years as a painter. Mrs. Maxey is retired from Sears.

The couple was honored with a Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and with a dinner given by their children.
